I’m thinking…

  1. McManus. (Needs a riddle. Simple riddle should do, as it would be the first one.)

    1. Introduce Maria as a character, and maybe her relationship with Elaine.
      1. Emphasise that these two go way back, as it’s McManus, a museum.
      2. Hint at Maria’s feelings by her saying that this is a good first date location. (She’s not being outspoken thought.)
      3. Mention that you can go inside the building to help the newcomers. 😀 Mention also that you can go in V&A, to foreshadow later events.
      4. Possible crow appearance in the background.
    2. End with some kind of twist, that leaves the player wanting more. Perhaps something Elaine doesn’t reveal, even if clearly there’s something she’s not telling?
  2. Slessor Gardens.

    1. Find out what Elaine was holding back. She’s in love! …Oh no.
      1. Make Maria’s feelings obvious, but also make it obvious that she’s not about to tell Elaine directly.
      2. Mention something about the space
      3. Definitely a crow approaching.
    2. End with a twist. After Elaine leaves, one crow comes to Maria, and in English, tells her that they could help her be with Elaine. The crows line up and start going towards the V&A
  3. **V&A. (**Needs signposting that player can go inside.)

    1. Maria has followed the crows. The crows make a one big giant crow.
      1. Maria has a conversation with this crow. “What the hell” “No one will believe you anyway”.
      2. The crows are cryptic and annoying. But say that you can take the RRS to the realm across the Tay. Sometimes people slip into the in-between.
      3. Crows tell about the possibility of gaining magical powers, and being able to banish Elaine’s lover into the other realm: No one here, including Elaine, would know that he ever even existed. Maria says she won’t do that.
    2. Ends with the crows disappearing and leaving confused Maria by the “Be open to the joy you deserve.”
  4. RRS leaves.

    1. Possibly, Aurora is guiding Maria to it.
      1. Maria claims she’s only curious.
    2. In the end the screen goes black, and there is text asking if Maria wants to gain magical powers.
      1. Aurora tells she gained magical powers by the people across the Tay, but that she had to become the person who guides the ship in return.
      2. Possibly mention of Elaine going missing at the end. “I never used the magic. I never did. But later that week, it was Elaine who went missing.”
  5. The Waterfront Gardens???

    1. Elaine has gone missing?
  6. Riverside walk.

    1. Aurora and Maria meet at the riverside walk, some weeks later. Missing person posters are lining the floor of it.
      1. Maria is trying to ask discreetly about Elaine going missing, but Aurora dodges the questions
      2. It is revealed these two have a little bit of a romance, which for Maria is more about comfort, but Aurora seems into it, mirroring some things Maria has said about/to Elaine
    2. In the end we see a bit of Elaine’s scarf etc on Aurora.
    3. There are crows in this scene.
  7. Magdalen Green. Needs a riddle.

    1. Maria and Aurora have conversations on different benches of the Magdalen Green.
      1. Maria tries to get to the truth.
    2. At the end, Maria threatens to use magic against Aurora if she doesn’t tell what she knows.
      1. Aurora tells Maria to go to Balgay Park’s planet stones.
    3. There are crows in this scene, but at the end when Maria threatens Aurora, they fly away.
  8. Balgay Park/Mills Observatory. Needs a riddle.

    1. Maria finds Elaine, but ghost-like, waving in and out of focus, desperately trying to tell something.
      1. She’s in-between worlds, where she was banished. However, she’s waving in and out.
      2. The point to go to the in-between worlds, liminal space, is door by the Dundee Law.
  9. Dundee Law. Needs a riddle.

    1. Maria finds the door.
      1. But Aurora waits for her there, warning her not to go in.
      2. Also crying and confessing to doing it.
        1. Possibly, the crows changed who they ship and convinced Aurora to make Elaine disappaer.
      3. Maria is very mad and lets Aurora have a piece of her mind. No crows anywhere to be seen.
      4. Maria goes in.
      5. A ghost, same as the one you saw at the beginning of the game, comes out.
      6. Then goes through transformation to the person
    2. Maria becomes a person. Thanks player. Says that through them playing her memories, which she considers traumatic, she was able to come alive again. Claims she is in the liminal space, and thus visible to player. Says she has to go — there is something she must do.
  10. Howff Cemetery

    1. No longer a riddle, you simply get asked if you went there in real life and told the scene changes depending on that.
    2. You find Maria and Elaine on a bench, leaning on each other, happy smiles on their faces.
      1. They say that they will soon be leaving. They can’t stay here, they’ll have to cross the border to the other realm completely. But they thank the player.
      2. Player gets to ask about Elaine’s boyfriend, to which Elaine says the details of her human life are starting to escape her anyway or something of the sort.
      3. Maria is now friends with the crows.
      4. Maria asks player something meaningful.
    3. The next time you navigate to the Howff, Maria and Elaine are gone.

I’m quite tired as it becomes the end of my working day, but in general I’m happy with this mapping. It could still be simplified, and I’m a bit stressed if I can do all the riddles required. However I’ll start writing today/tomorrow.
