The problem with my game is, I don’t know how to code with GPS. While it would be a fun challenge to learn it, I want to focus on story, design and scope, and I do need to draw the art assets too. So the next step is to think about how to design the game without GPS. Here are some initial ideas
The last one seems most appealing, as QR codes or other thing I’d hide would probably disappaer. Also, having a riddle around a clue around a place that you need to visit would both force you to visit the place without GPS, and be fun and tie into fantasy/witch vibes of the game.
I also thought of tying it into ritual game mechanic. In magical stuff both in history and fiction, it is normal to do a ritual of sorts. The final piece of the ritual to reveal what happened in a certain place, could be just to find the clue in the place and insert that word onto the ritual. The ritual could use inventory management, like finding things around the places and using materials to perform the ritual. The riddle could be in poem form, with one word missing, and the word would be what you would have to find. Like a treasure hunt!
Next issue is, who the player is, and how to make this interesting for them. But that is not this times problem. Now I have solved the GPS problem.
